Holiday Party Closure

Be sure to stock up on Saturday and early Sunday, because we'll be closing at 4PM on Sunday the 22nd to engage in our annual holiday-related revelry. We'll be entirely closed Monday the 23rd in order to recover from the previous night's shenanigans. Trust us, you don't want to see one of us attempt to ring you up the day after one of our holiday parties. We'll be back to normal hours on Tuesday. Cheers!

Cigar Spotlight

We at Bottleworks work long, grueling hours outside of the shop so we can be sure to have as much knowledge of the product as we can. It's a tough sacrifice to have to walk home with a cigar, or drink a few beers after work but it's our commitment to the customer that keeps us pushing along. We get to share the results of our hard beer research every day with recommendations but don't as often get to shine light on our cigar selection. Here today we present one of our more popular cigars.

Thunder by Nimish has become a staff favorite and due to the strenuous and frequent sampling we do to ensure quality, we seem to run through them alarmingly fast. Nimish Desai is Rocky Patel's cousin, and like many other Nicaraguan dominated Rocky Patel smokes, this one delivers. The Thunder line features a beautiful, oily Ecuadorian Habano wrapper around both a Nicaraguan binder and filler. Ecuadorian wrappers have taken off as of late, and for good reason. Habano, Sumatra, and I hate to admit it, Connecticut leaves grown in Ecuador are all being given much acclaim.

The Thunder is described as a medium-full bodied smoke with peppery notes throughout, finishing with espresso flavors. I found the smoke itself very rich, medium bodied, and thought the black pepper toned down about halfway through smoking, blending the coffee flavors with a warm earthiness.

We carry a Robusto (4.5"X54) and a Torpedo (6.2"X52). Our supply on these guys for the moment seems to be steady which is good, because once the weather warms up just a little, we expect these to be an even faster seller. Stop in and pick a few up today.

Monday Closure

Sorry for the inconvenience folks but we will be closing early on Sunday the 22nd (around 4), and will be closed all day Monday (Jan 5th). Again we apologize, stock up accordingly. 

Holiday Hours

We will be closing at 8PM this Saturday (Christmas Eve) and next Saturday (New Years Eve). We will be closed New Years Day. Happy Holidays

Holidays Gift Ideas

Stop on by any day before Christmas to stock up on holiday supplies and gifts. Besides the huge beer selection of properly stored beers that we are known for, we also stock an ever growing number of ciders and meads. If beer is what you are looking to give, we have quite a few gift packs from breweries, as well as a helpful staff that can help select the perfect mix. We also have lots of beer accessories like glassware, plenty of snacks and fine chocolates, and if you're truly stumped, gift certificates. Don't forget we now carry a hand picked selection of fine cigars for stocking stuffers. We are open normal hours till Christmas Eve, when we will be closing early at 8PM.

Shorty's Lager Launch

Brasserie McAuslan Launch

Sunday, October 30th from 4PM until close we'll be hosting the launch of Brasserie McAuslan in Washington. We're very honored as McAuslan is one of the oldest and most respected craft breweries in Quebec. Founded in 1989 in Montreal, they were the first craft brewery in the province to bottle their beers. They have since won numerous medals in international competitions for their world-class ales and were well-regarded by The Beer Hunter, Michael Jackson.

We'll be pouring samples of the St-Ambroise Oatmeal Stout and the St-Ambroise Vintage Ale 2009. We'll of course have bottles of both available along with a limited amount of the St-Ambroise Citrouille Pumpkin Ale. The always effervescent Dan, from Orcas Distributing, will be here to answer any questions and give out hugs.

Ninkasi Brewers Night

Join us this Thursday from 6-9PM for an evening of Ninkasi beers. We will be tasting all the beers from their new 4 pack, including a new imperial stout. Additionally we will have a special vintage draft offering and a fresh hop offering to try. So bring a friend, bring a growler, and bring a $1, because that's all it'll cost you to sample all the beers.

Fresh Hop Season

Starting this Friday, the day after our Ninkasi Brewing Company night, we will start the flood of fresh hop beers on draft. Availability of fresh hop beers in kegs was much greater this year and we have far more kegs than we do taps. Originally we had planned to put them all on at once but since we can't fit them all we figure why not spread them out over the course of a month so that if you can't make it one day, you are sure to get some the next. Starting on that Friday (the 14th), we will have around 3 or 4 fresh hop beers on draft at any one time until we run out of kegs. So come by Friday, then check our blog to see what we have on draft and come back often. All of our fresh hop beers will be available for growler fills and no, they do not make a fresh hop Pliny the Elder.
