Port/Lost Abbey Tasting With Tomme Arthur

You may have heard that Port Brewing/Lost Abbey's Tomme Arthur will be in Seattle this coming week. The man needs no introduction as one of the most well-respected and well-known figures in the American craft brewing industry. On Tuesday February 3rd from 4:30-6:30 pm, we're fortunate enough to have Tomme on hand for a tasting at Bottleworks.

Tomme will pour tastes from at least five of our stock of 13 Port and Lost Abbey beers. We don't know which ones he'll choose, but we do know this is a rare opportunity to sample some incredible beers and meet a craft beer rock star in an intimate setting. As usual, the full tasting will cost $1.

After the tasting at Bottleworks, Tomme will head to Brouwer's for a 7 pm event that features Port's Hop 15 and Lost Abbey's Serpent's Stout and Judgment Day on tap as well as those 17 bottled selections by the glass.

Tasting for Saturday 1/10

Saturday we will be tasting Russian River Damnation from 3PM-6PM. As always, tastings are $1. Here's more on Damnation from Vinnie himself:

"In the great beer producing country of Belgium, some brewers have made it a tradition to give their beers an unusual name. Sometimes the name is curious, now and then it is diabolical and other times it is just plain silly. Damnation is our brewmaster's interpretation of a Belgian style Strong Golden Ale. It has extraordinary aromas of banana and pear with mouth filling flavors of sweet malt and earthy hops. The lingering finish is dry and slightly bitter but very, very smooth. 7.0%ABV / 1.068 O.G / 25 BUs"

New Brews 1/8

Left Hand Smoke Jumper Smoked Imperial Porter 220z. (CO)
"This truly hand-crafted smoked imperial porter is made with hot and cold-smoked barley malt using a combination of several hardwoods. Roasty black in color, the long-lingering smokiness wraps around flavors of sweet molasses, toasted malt and an earthy hoppiness. The beer is full-bodied, black with garnet undertones in color, and 9.2% alcohol by volume."

Also, Oskar Blues has returned after changing distributors. Currently we have Dale's Pale 6-packs, Old Chub 6-packs & 12-packs along with Gordon 4-packs.

New Brews 1/7

Alaskan Barley Wine 22oz. (AK)
"Alaskan Barley Wine is a full bodied ale, deep mahogany in color and brewed with an array of complementing malts to achieve its high original gravity. Multiple hop additions in the boil and dry hopping during fermentation provide contrast to the big malt character resulting in the smooth balance that distinguishes this specialty brew. Like many fine wines, Alaskan Barley Wine may be aged in the bottle and gains deeper malt complexity and smoothness over time.

Alaskan Barley Wine Ale is made from glacier-fed water, a generous blend of the finest Pacific Northwest hop varieties and premium two-row and specialty malts. Our water originates in the 1,500 square-mile Juneau Ice Field and from more than 90 inches of rainfall each year. "

Baron Three Skulls prototype 12oz. (WA)
Baron Brewing is branching out with their new, pirate-themed line Three Skulls Ales and we have the prototypes! The recipes, labels and even bottle sizes are definitely not finalized, but these are an advanced preview of what to expect:

Black Bonney - Unfortunately not named after our own scurvy dog Matt Bonney (who was already included along with other Seattle beer scene luminaries on the Seven Swabians Eisbock label), this one is a porter named after Anne Bonny, one of the few known female pirates of her age.
Pillager’s Pale - A Northwest-style pale ale.
CutThroat Red - A red ale with a touch of rye to enhance the flavor.

Full Sail Slipknot Imperial IPA
22oz. (OR)
"As the name implies, every aspect of this American style IPA is amplified - from the up-front hop aroma and bitterness to the big malt body. ABV: 7.8% IBUs: 80"
