Change In Per Customer Limits For Bottleworks 10 Beers

Due to limited quantities, we had to revise the per customer limit on the Bottleworks 10 beers as follows:

New Belgium Bottleworks 10th Anniversary Wild Ale - 1 per customer

Hair of the Dog Matt - 2 per customer

Russian River Consecration Is Here

If you don't already have enough reasons to stop by today, here's one more: we have Russian River Consecration. Inspired by the Toronado 20th Anniversary Ale that Russian River's Vinnie Cilurzo made in 2007, Consecration is a strong dark ale aged for 9 months inside Cabernet Sauvignon barrels. During the aging process, currants are added as are Brettanomyces, Lactobacillus, & Pediococcus. The beer weighs in at 10% ABV and it is tasty. We have 750ml bottles for $22.99. There is a 2 bottle limit per customer.

Oh...you might also want to know that we got in a new shipment of Russian River Pliny the Elder. It was bottled just over a week ago, which is about as fresh as you're gonna find it in these parts. No limit on this--come and get it.

10th Anniversary Cellar Sale

In yesterday's post on Wednesday's release of our 10th Anniversary beers, we mentioned some cellared surprises we'd be bringing up for sale. The list is finished and it's impressive. Some highlights:

• Four of the earlier Bottleworks anniversary beers-- Elysian Icarus (#5), Far West (#6), Rogue Issaquah (#7) and Russian River Deviation (#9).
• Several vintages of Hair of the Dog Adam & Fred and Fish's Poseidon and Leviathan.
• Seven vintages of De Dolle's Stille Nacht going back to 1996.
• Cantillon Fou' Foune, Bruocsella and Rosé de Gambrinus.

Bottleworks 10th Anniversary Celebration

Wednesday is a big day at Bottleworks. We're celebrating our 10th Anniversary with the release of two special beers, both on sale when we open at 11am. In addition, we will be releasing 10 years of cellared surprises from the Bottleworks series including the 6th Anniversary beer brewed by Far West Brewing. Some information on the two 10th Anniversary beers:

The first is the New Belgium Bottleworks 10th Anniversary Wild Ale. The beer was blended at New Belgium during GABF week by owner Matt Vandenberghe, operations manager Matt Bonney and a crew from Brouwer's, Click Distributing, and the Toronado. Bottleworks 10 is a blend of three beers from foedres #3 , #13, and #2 (foedres are the wooden aging vessels that house beers like La Folie, Le Terroir and Eric's Ale). New Belgium brewer Eric Salazar dosed both the kegs and bottles with Brettanomyces Lambicus and, according to NB sensory expert Lauren Salazar, the beer "turned out fantastic! Different from any of our sour blends before and much more brett forward- kinda like Biere de Mars and La Folie ran smack dab into each other." New Belgium Bottleworks 10 will be available in 750ml bottles for $20 each. There will be a 1 bottle limit per customer per day.

Beer number two is Hair of the Dog Matt. To create Matt, HotD Brewer/Owner Alan Sprints took his Adam and blended a combination that was aged in both apple eau-de-vie and 33 year-old bourbon casks for a year. Sprints says "Matt is deep and lush with notes of apple, chocolate and smoke." Matt will be available in 12oz bottles for $15. There will be a 2 bottle limit per customer per day.

From 5-7 pm we will have a tasting of both 10th Anniversary beers. Hair of the Dog's Alan Sprints and New Belgium's Eric Salazar and Jamie Mastin will be on hand along with the two Matts. The tasting will cost $2.

Afterwards, don't forget to head over to Brouwer's where the celebration will continue with the tapping of kegs of both 10th Anniversary beers as well as Russian River Deviation (Bottleworks 9), Flyers 120 Schilling Scotch Ale (Bottleworks 8) and Elysian Icarus (Bottleworks 5).

Monday Closure

Matamuros

Even if you're superstitious and scared of venturing out this Friday (13th), it is well in your interest to do so. Former Bottleworks manager and lifetime Bottleworks Air Jordan historian Kevin "Sensei 23 projux" Sullivan will be having an art opening reception at Naked City Tap House. Kevin is part of the hot mural painting squad Matamuros (Jill Rothenberger and Zachary Bohnekamp, also members of Matamuros, will have their art featured as well) whose artwork is popping up on and in businesses all over the city and beyond. Naked City Tap House is located in Greenwood (8564 Greenwood Ave N). The reception starts at 7PM so cruise on by, grab a pint and check 'em out.

Monday Tasting

This Monday, Feb.9th, we will be hosting a tasting again. This time it's Alan Shapiro from SBS imports pouring a few of the products he imports. There will be 2 ales from Batemans Brewery; both XXXB Bitter and Combined Harvest. Both are fine English ales our staff is quite fond of due to their expert use of invert sugar to keep their beers light and dry in the finish for a sessionable experience. Also featured will be 4 ciders from Aspall. Their Organic, Medium, Dry (voted best cider in the world in 2008), and their new Perronelle's Blush will be at the tasting. As always the tasting will be $1 and it runs from 5-7PM with your friendly tastemaster Trevor Thomas.
