New Brews 3/13

Biere De Miel has been away sadly for almost a year and a half. It's a shame because this is a quirky little saison from Dupont. Luckily a small supply is back. Those of you who have read your Charlie Papazian know that honey added to a beer in anything but large quantities will dry a beer out (due to its high fermentability). This is a prime example. Along with subtle floral honey notes, this saison is quite dry. Esters are much more easily noticed and the hopping rate is along the lines of Moinette and Foret (the organic version of Moinette) as opposed to the well known Saison Dupont. Subtle, dry, refreshing, different, delicious.

New Beers:
Van Pur Non Alcoholic (.5L cans, Poland)
Great Divide Claymore Scotch Ale (12oz. 6 packs)
Pike Brewing IPA (new 22oz. Dinner Size Bottles)

Returning:
Fish Tail Brewing Old Woody (22oz.)
Dupont Brasserie Foret (both 33cl and 750ml), Moinette Blonde (750ml), and Biere De Miel (750ml)

New Brews 3/11

The much-anticipated new batch of Allagash Curieux is in! More from the brewery:

"To make the Curieux (French for "curious"), we age our Tripel Ale in Jim Beam barrels for 8 weeks in our cellar. During the aging process in bourbon barrels, the beer is totally transformed, and many new flavors and aromas develop. Most notably, the beer picks up soft coconut and vanilla characteristics...and also a hint of bourbon flavor! Curieux is an excellent complement to barbeque dishes and many desserts. Try pairing Curieux with assorted cheese cakes and crème brúlee."

I'd be willing to bet this one would also pair well with steak, darker chocolates (especially those containing nuts) and even a nice cigar.

Returning Domestics:
Avery White Rascal 6pk. (CO)
Dick's Irish Ale 6pk. (WA)
Rogue Double Dead Guy 750ml (OR)

Returning Imports:

Kulmbacher EKU 28 12oz. (Germany)
Taunton's Blackthorn Cider 750ml (England)

tasting moved

Yet again our Cerveza Jerome tasting has been moved forward a week. We again apologize for the short notice.
In other news, our staff has spent countless hours this week researching and testing Lagunitas New Dogtown Pale. After much hard work and sacrifice, we've concluded that indeed it may be the ultimate summer beer. Light and clean malt base supporting grapefruit and tropical fruit hop flavors (Simcoe and Amarillo), this pale is a certified go-to house favorite. You can buy us a bottle to thank us for our tireless research.

Jerome Tasting Monday 3/2

On Monday we will be sampling a few beers from Cerveza Jerome located in Menzoda Argentina. After learning the art of brewing in the Czech Republic, the owner went home to Argentina to start a brewery, naming it after his faithful German Shepherd. The beers are brewed in the European tradition using pure mountain spring water, malted barley from the Argentine Pampas and Patagonian hops. As usual, the tasting is from 5PM-7PM and costs just $1.
